THE 10 RULES WHEN CHOOSING YOUR SOFA.
1) Assess it personally. The sofa shall always be tried with attention before buying it. It's not a bookshelf and you're not a book. Remember that on it you'll spend sitting a lot of time. It shall resist, be solid and comfortable at the same time.
2) The softness of the seat is important. We all have a preference. Go for a more rigid upholstery than the optimal one for you. In a quality sofa, a light loosening is quite normal, taking the softness to the desired level.
3) Ask the shopkeeper how is internally made your sofa, which materials have been used and which are the production techniques. Do not look at it only outside, study it inside as much as you can.
4) Get informed on how the seat suspension is realized. If the cushions lay on bands which are two narrow or two far from each other, or if the construction technique is not appropriate, your sofa along time could be suffering.
5) Check if the height of the seatback is suitable to your way to live the sofa. Someone prefers to have the head rested feeling the support of the sofa behind shoulders, someone else enjoys lower seat back where to have arms rested.
6) Select you fabric carefully: it's a fundamental value of your sofa. Ask if it nice but also if it has the right technical features for the use you'll have. Always check if the sofa has removable lining.
7) Always prefer Made in Italy Sofas. Nothing against other countries, some of which can really provide first quality row materials. But the quality of workforce and production made in Italy has no equal..
8) Double check the size of your room and do not force the inclusion of a sofa just because you like it. The sofa occupies an important place, in visual terms too, and must allow the liveability of the room.
9) Make sure your sofa is provided with a conformity and maintenance documentation. This will make clear the quality of purchase and will help you avoid making mistakes on maintenance.
10) Check that seat cushions of the sofa can be removed, namely they're not permanently attached to the body: is undoubtedly an advantage for the hygiene, maintenance, and practicality. If the sofa has no cushions, however, control it is designed for a convenient maintenance.
